I have been having a blast in Perdido Key!! The beach is just perfect!! Sandy Key has turned out to be paradise!! It has everything I could want in a beach front condo!
Last time I was telling you guys about the Memorial Day Picnic that Sandy Key invited me to so I thought I would tell you a little about it! To start off with it was AWESOME!!! They sure do know how to make hot dogs on the grill!! I even ate 2- but don’t tell anyone! LOL! Good thing they have a fitness center on- site!
Everyone that came by just raved about how much they love Sandy Key and Perdido Key- some have even been coming here for 20 years!! Some even remember coming down when they were kids and now they are bringing their kids down here. They said when they think back about family vacations, they think about Sandy Keyand Perdido Key and all the memories they made with their parents and they want their kids to enjoy those great memories and they are making them at Sandy Key. I thought that was really sweet. I tell you what—hearing those kids splashing around in the pool just made my day!
Later that week I decided to take a trip over to Big Lagoon State Park, it’s really close to Sandy Key– only 3 miles away! It’s so close I could see my nest at Sandy Key from it!! How cool is that? I met a gentleman at the gate when I paid my entrance fee by the name of Scott- he was super nice; just like everyone else I have met down here in Perdido Key. He told me that Big Lagoon State Park was about 655 acres and that it sat right on the intercostal waterway and that it actually separates the mainland from Perdido Key and the Gulf of Mexico.
Apparently it’s a popular spot for tourist and locals alike as I saw a ton of people during the day. Some were exploring the nature trails- which by the way there were a ton of them!! There were also some open woodland areas. As I made my way towards the water I saw some families enjoying a picnic lunch on Big Lagoon’s beach. There were a ton of folks in the water kayaking and paddle boarding- I told Scott that it was on my bucket list to do so maybe I’ll go one day soon!
After a long day of exploring Big Lagoon I decided to head out and go back to Sandy Keyand take a nap. On my way out I saw some guys in the water- but they weren’t swimming. So I asked them what they were up to and they said they were crabbing! I thought it was funny that they were in the water because I thought only flamingos stood in the water looking for food; but they said that was the best way to catch the big crabs!
Tootles for now!
